Property owners are receiving their 2024 property tax appraisals in the mail.

Some property owners have reported that this year’s appraisals may be coming in higher than expected.

In order to help with the protest process, Lake Buchanan Community Alliance (LBCA) will offer a seminar detailing the process and how to organize data in such a way as to maximize chances of lowering one’s appraisal.

The seminar is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the Lakeshore Library, 7346 RR 261 in Buchanan Dam.

This event is free offering for LBCA members and associate members.

The last day to file a protest on your appraisal in Llano County is Thursday, May 23.

According to Jeff Goble of the Burnet CAD, the deadline is 30 days from when the notice is mailed out. Most notices were mailed on May 1 meaning May 30 is the protest deadline.

Check one’s appraisal notice to be sure. Please note: in the case of appraisals changing less than $1,000 no notice is mailed.

The deadline in such instances is May 15. Visit burnet-cad.org.

Everyone who belongs to an organization that is an LBCA member is welcome to attend. If your organization is not an LBCA member, applications for membership and associate memberships will be accepted up to 10 a.m. on May 18.

Please RSVP to info@lb-ca.org. For questions and to inquire about a membership, call 512-441-5606.
