Veterans Banner Program for Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow
The villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are looking to honor its veterans in a special way. Eagle Scout Dylan Smith is working with village officials to coordinate a Veterans Military Banner Program to honor veterans, active duty, reserve and National Guard members with banners that will be displayed in the community.

Mahopac-Carmel Chamber Awards Scholarships
MAHOPAC, N.Y,. - Local students Samantha Cardinali, Ava Florez, Faith Maria Mahoskey, Kayla Merrill, Matthew Risley, Samantha Rosaforte, Cassidy Ryan, and Cassandra Sciarra gathered at Four Brothers restaurant in Mahopac to receive $500 scholarships from the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce last month. We were surprised to see construction of a new Dunkin' less than a mile away from another location by Arlington High School. Ah... Dunkin' (formerly Dunkin' Donuts). They started dropping the Donuts from their name back in 2019 as part of a rebranding campaign. We've got a lot of Dunkin's in the Hudson Valley. There is no shortage of locations for the popular coffee/donut shop.
NYPD searching for suspect after 2 children targeted in shooting inside McDonald's in the Bronx
The NYPD is continuing its search for the suspect who shot two kids inside a McDonald's in the Bronx late Saturday night.Police say the suspect said a few words to the victims before gunfire erupted just before 10 p.m. at 2516 White Plains Rd. in Allerton.According to the NYPD, a 12-year-old boy was shot in the left thigh and back and a 13-year-old boy was shot in the left leg.First responders transported the victims to Jacobi Medical Center, and they are both are expected to survive.Police say the suspect fled on foot on Mace Avenue towards Bronx Park East.The suspect...

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Enjoy an afternoon of classical music at the Ridgewood Library, as they will host a piano concert for Bergen County resident Owen Smith on July 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. Seating is first come, first served. No registration required. Smith will perform pieces of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and Brahms. Smith is 16 years old and an honor student at the Manhattan School of Music pre-college, lives in Demarest, where he attends Bergen Catholic High school. Smith started to play piano at 5 and has won prizes at several piano competitions, including the Piano Concerto Competition at Manhattan School of Music, the New York and New Jersey Piano teachers association and the International Grand Piano competition. Falling tree sparks fire at Tenafly home
A fire, apparently caused by a downed tree, led to the evacuation of a home in Tenafly on Saturday, July 6. No one was hurt. "It was caused by a large branch of the tree," said Lt. Paul Liautaud of the Tenafly Police Department. "Not sure what sparked the fire, but obviously something got interrupted inside the house."
