Somers' Volkman Earns Justin Veatch Fund Music Scholarship
SOMERS, N.Y. - The Justin Veatch Fund recently awarded six new $1,200 music scholarships to graduating high school seniors at an awards program at Yorktown Town Hall. The six, chosen among 19 applicants from 11 high schools, included Noah Volkman of Granite Springs. This is the 16th year The Fund has awarded scholarships to students who live within a 40-mile radius of Yorktown. Veterans Banner Program for Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow
The villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are looking to honor its veterans in a special way. Eagle Scout Dylan Smith is working with village officials to coordinate a Veterans Military Banner Program to honor veterans, active duty, reserve and National Guard members with banners that will be displayed in the community.

Mount Academy welding students had previously won silver and bronze medals at the National Skills USA Leadership Conference. This year, The Mount took home the gold. Mahopac-Carmel Chamber Awards Scholarships
MAHOPAC, N.Y,. - Local students Samantha Cardinali, Ava Florez, Faith Maria Mahoskey, Kayla Merrill, Matthew Risley, Samantha Rosaforte, Cassidy Ryan, and Cassandra Sciarra gathered at Four Brothers restaurant in Mahopac to receive $500 scholarships from the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce last month. 22 Year Old Arrested for Reckless Driving, Assault on Theo Fremd Avenue
On Friday, a 22 year old man was arrested on Theodore Fremd Avenue in Rye for reckless driving and assault, among other changes. After failure to comply with a traffic stop, Wilver Hiraldo of Norwalk, Connecticut was observed traveling northbound on Theodore Fremd Avenue on an unregistered moped. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Hiraldo accelerated around stopped traffic and drove into the oncoming lane of traffic in an attempt to elude officers.
