Buckeye has selected Bob Sanders as the city’s new police chief.

Sanders has served as deputy police chief since 2014.

He will assume the position of chief, succeeding Larry Hall, who retired from the Buckeye Police Department in January . Hall currently serves as Buckeye's interim public safety director.

“I am honored to lead the Buckeye Police Department in this new capacity,” Sanders shared in a press release. “The men and women of this team serve with professionalism, integrity and compassion. I am inspired by them every day.”

Sanders has a master's degree in education leadership from Northern Arizona University and a bachelor's degree in administration of justice from Arizona State University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Policing, the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, and the California Police Chiefs Executive Leadership Institute Program. He also serves as a CALEA assessor for law enforcement agency accreditation.

Sanders will officially assume his new role on March 3, with his swearing-in ceremony scheduled before the City Council on March 5.
