BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Around 100 bikers came to the Upshur County Recreational Park on Saturday for the Uprising Mountain Bike Race.

The event was designed by Upshur County Trails to be accessible to bikers of all levels. The course was 6 miles with more advanced bikers doing laps to make the race 20 miles and more novice bikers just completing the one lap. A kid’s race was also held before the main race began.

Racers saw good conditions on the trails at the Uprising Mountain Bike Race to make for a fun bike ride. Race Director J.J. Ford said that the rain before the race helped as the trail was sandy before.

He also said that the race drew many people from outside of the area with most of the racers coming from outside of Buckhannon.

This is race number seven in a nine-race point series by the West Virginia Mountain Bike Association. In this point series, a racer who wins his or her class gains 20 points with second place earning 19.
