    Buckhannon continues 4th of July celebrations at Festival Friday

    BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — This year, the City of Buckhannon elected to hold its Independence Day celebrations on July 5 in order to coincide with its weekly Festival Fridays event.

    Friday’s Independence Day edition of the event was held in Jawbone Park and included live music from Stonestreet. as well as inflatables, a mechanical bull and a rock climbing wall. Money raised from the inflatables and rock climbing wall will be donated to Stockert Youth and Community Center.

    To add to the Independence Day festivities, the Elite Rival Twirlers performed and the night will be capped off with a fireworks show. Food was catered by various vendors alongside Create Buckhannon, which sold chicken dinners.

    Create Buckhannon Treasurer Melodie Stemple said that the Fourth of July is usually one of the most popular events of the year. She estimated that about 500 to 600 people come to Buckhannon to celebrate each year.
