Sunset Ellis Drive-In to host Family Splash Day with firework display
SHINNSTON, W.Va (WDTV) - The Sunset Ellis Drive-In will be holding a family event this weekend!. Family Splash Day will take place Saturday, July 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be bounce houses, a water slide, face painting, a DJ, food trucks, a variety of vendors and a firework show, organizers said.
Storms and rain showers on Independence Day
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Good Morning NCWV! We woke up this morning to some rather calm weather with only some cloud coverage across our area! Now, we are continuing this warming trend for today with high temperatures in the lowlands getting into the low 90s in the lowlands and the low 80s in the higher elevations. Unfortunately for us, this frontal system that is on it’s way isn’t going to help us out very much at all. As frontal system weakens and stalls over us our high temperatures will not drop significantly, only getting down to the mid 80s in the lowlands and the mid to high 70s in the higher elevations. Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout most of the day on Independence Day. These thunderstorms aren’t expected to be as severe as some of the previous storms we have seen with the only severe threat being damaging winds, with wind gusts getting up to 35 MPH in the more mountainous regions and up to 25MPH in the lowlands. However rain showers are expected to be heavy at points throughout Thursday with the total amount of rainfall being up to 1 inch. This trend will continue into Friday where we will see these storms and rain showers scattered throughout the day. Unfortunately, our temperatures will bounce back into the high 80s in the lowlands and the low 80s in the higher elevations and with that and the increase in humidity from all of this rainfall, heat indexes are forecasted to be near that 100° mark once again as we exit the work week. Wheeling Symphony to Celebrate America with 2024-25 Fourth of July Tour
This July, the WSO hits the road with Celebrate America!, a Fourth of July celebratory tour. From July 4 – 7, the WSO will begin this celebration tour in Wheeling’s Heritage Port and then travel to Weirton, Canaan Valley, and Clarksburg. WVU issues safety warning following 2 burglary incidents Tuesday
MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - West Virginia University issued a campus warning following a report of a burglary Tuesday. The burglary was reported right after 9 a.m. at a building located at 633 North Spruce Street in Morgantown, which is a University-owned building. A cleaning crew had arrived at the site and allegedly found three people inside who were not authorized to be there.

Catholic Charities presents proposal to host year long triage shelter at Hazel’s House of Hope
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Catholic Charities of West Virginia has offered the City of Morgantown their services to host a year-long emergency triage shelter within city limits. President and CEO of the Catholic Charities of West Virginia, Mark Phillips, presented a request for proposal during Morgantown City Council’s regular meeting Tuesday, where he broke down the cost of the year-long service. This included the minimum number of people that would be required to run the shelter, which organizations would partner in offering services, and which public entities would be required to financially contribute in order to make the shelter a reality.
