You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown (Brian Luck) listens as Sally (Breanna Ameigh) reveals her plans for jumping rope during rehearsals for Milam Community Theater’s production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” which opens Saturday at the Williams Event Center in Cameron. Charles Schulz’s beloved comic strip takes the stage Saturday as Milam Community Theater brings Clark Gesner’s classic musical, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” to life. The curtain rises 7 p.m. Saturday at the Williams Event Center in Cameron with additional performances 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, and Aug. 3 and 4. Then, the show travels to the Kay Theater in Rockldale for a weekend stand Aug. 10 and 11. The whole gang is here: bossy Lucy is hopelessly in love with piano prodigy Schroeder who doesn’t give her the time of day; perfectionist Sally is still mocking blanket-toting Linus; Snoopy is in the doghouse, and “blockhead,” himself, Charlie Brown, is in rare form. The cast includes Brian Luck as Charlie Brown, Ryan Heller as Snoopy, Seth Tyson as Linus, Victoria Everett as Lucy, Noah Bradley as Schroeder and Breanna Ameigh as Sally. Mona Butala and Cheryl Heller fill out the chorus. Val Gameiro directs. Brief vignettes span the months from Valentine’s Day to Beethoven Day, from wild optimism to utter despair. Whether you’re keen to fly with the Red Baron, moon over the Moonlight Sonata, or just do your best to find “Happiness,” You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a crowd-pleasing classic. Tickets are on sale now for the Cameron performances on the MCT website, MilamCommunityTheater.com. Tickets for the Rockdale shows are available at thekaytheater.com.
