Rick’s Place offers young people and their families a place to remember their loved ones and to avoid the sense of isolation that such losses can produce Rick’s Place was established in 2007, in memory of Rick Thorpe, who died in Tower Two of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Springfield minister to head national voting initiative
Springfield-based Bishop Talbert W. Swan II has been named the national chairperson for the voting initiative of the Christian denomination Church of God in Christ (COGIC). The initiative, called COGIC Counts, will use a variety of means to maximize voting participation among the denomination’s congregants across the nation. Its goal is to register to vote everyone eligible in the denomination’s churches, according to a press release.
