New Animals Move into Tropical Reef Aquarium
Over 40 marine animal species joined the Tropical Reef Aquarium this month, adding to the roster of more than 130 species already living there!. The new residents include four new blacktip reef sharks, a tasseled wobbegong shark, a grey reef shark, a black blotched ray, and dozens of tropical fish, including a spectacular humphead wrasse. There are now six shark species in the aquarium’s Outer Reef habitat and another two shark species reside in the Lagoon. There are now 21 sharks total in the Tropical Reef Aquarium, with more still to come!

SEA Moves to All Reusable or Compostable Food Service Materials
New tenant requirement sets food service ware standards that aim to reduce waste. Starting this month, all airport tenants who provide food service in the terminal must now use only reusable or approved compostable food service ware and packaging at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). This includes restaurants with sit-down service, tenants with to-go service, lounges, and catering groups. In support of SEA’s goal to divert 60% of all terminal waste from landfills, SEA is working with tenants to ensure all noncompostable products like cups, bowls, and utensils are replaced by approved products.
Kent in disguise: An unofficial, underground Transformers fan fest for Washington
Robots in disguise have been a considerable part of U.S. pop culture for 40 years, and over half of that time, there has been a fan event dedicated to all things Transformers in Western Washington. "People have been very enthusiastic of CybFest when I've told them, even if they have no interest in Transformers," said Cybfest NW coordinator Ben Harpold. Even though it's an unofficial Transformers convention, put on by fans, Cybfest NW organizers are anticipating that 2024 will be its biggest event yet. What: Cybfest NW, an unofficial Transformers festival for fans and families, featuring toy dealers, artists, STEM features, and more.
