High crime rates threaten insurance renewal for Pierce County business owner
PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A Pierce County business owner repeatedly hit by property crime claims he's about to be dropped by his insurance. Nirav Sheth, outside his Gig Harbor garage, said he was surprised to receive a notice that Nationwide would not renew the policy for his Meinecke stores in Gig Harbor, Silverdale, and Des Moines, which have had more than three reported losses in three years.
Tacoma’s Jack Hyde Beach: Advisory Lifted
The water at Tacoma’s Jack Hyde Beach is safe to enter. The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department lifted the advisory for people to keep out of the water at Tacoma’s Jack Hyde Beach. The health department issued the advisory July 17 because of high bacteria levels. Results from water samples collected July 22 indicate the public health concern is over.
