RICHLAND, Wash., USA – AtkinsRéalis, a fully integrated professional services and project management company with offices around the world, is supporting the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association (PNWH2) which recently announced it will receive up to $27.5 million as part of its Phase 1 award from the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED). Haaland Announces $16M for Drought Resilience During Washington State Visit
TOPPENISH, WA – Secretary Haaland concluded a multi-day visit to Washington State to celebrate major progress in implementing President Biden’s Investing in America agenda to safeguard communities from increased threat of wildland fire and severe drought, restore ecosystems, and strengthen tribal communities. During her visit, Secretary Haaland met with tribal leaders from the Confederated Tribes of the Yakama Nation, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, and Puyallup Tribe, as well as Bureau of Indian Education-funded staff and personnel. US promises $240 million to improve fish hatcheries, protect tribal rights in Pacific Northwest
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The U.S. government will invest $240 million in salmon and steelhead hatcheries in the Pacific Northwest to boost declining fish populations and support the treaty-protected fishing rights of Native American tribes, officials announced Thursday. The departments of Commerce and the Interior said there will be an initial $54 million for hatchery maintenance and modernization made available to 27 tribes in the region, which includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska. The hatcheries “produce the salmon that tribes need to live,” said Jennifer Quan, the regional administrator for NOAA Fisheries West Coast Region. “We are talking about food for the tribes and supporting their culture and their spirituality.” Some of the facilities are on the brink of failure, Quan said, with a backlog of deferred maintenance that has a cost estimated at more than $1 billion.
