Louisville, KY – The week ahead in Kentucky is expected to bring a welcome break from the summer heat, with unseasonably cool temperatures and mostly sunny skies dominating the forecast. Starting today, clouds will linger in the early morning hours but are expected to clear by late morning, giving way to partly to mostly sunny skies. High temperatures today will reach the low 80s, with similar conditions expected throughout the week.

Kentucky high school closes restrooms during class changes
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - A high school in Kentucky decided to close its restrooms during transitions between classes. According to Lexington Herald-Leader, a spokesperson for Henry Clay High School started the new procedure in response to an increase in "behavior events" in restrooms. A rise in behavior events in restrooms has increased across the entire state of Kentucky.

Indiana religious leaders hold dedication ceremony for Floyd County's first cooling centers
NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- As the temperatures in August soar, southern Indiana religious leaders are coming together to make sure people in the Floyd County area stay cool. New Albany clergy and community leaders from 12 different organizations hosted a dedication service at Culbertson Baptist Church on Grant Line Road to launch the first ever city-wide cooling centers on Sunday. The leaders partnered with a group called Hoosier Action to make the centers possible.

34-year-old woman identified as victim of fatal shooting Friday just off Bardstown Road in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 34-year-old Louisville woman was identified as the victim of Friday's fatal shooting in the Bon Air neighborhood. Louisville Metro Police a said the shooting happened around 5 a.m. in the 2200 block of Liverpool Lane, which is off Bardstown Road just south of Interstate 264. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said Monday that Yailin Casales Espinel died of multiple gunshot wounds just before 5:30 a.m. Friday.
