    U.S. Marshals charge Morrisville man with murder stemming from July 4 shooting in Trenton

    A Morrisville man is facing multiple murder charges in Mercer County, New Jersey, stemming from a fatal July 4 shooting in Trenton.

    U.S. Marshals arrested 37-year-old Rashawn Ford on Wednesday morning in Bensalem for allegedly killing 32-year-old Amir Williams of Trenton and shooting a second unidentified female, according to a news release from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

    Ford faces charges for first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder, plus two counts of aggravated assault and multiple weapons charges.

    Trenton police responded to a call for a shooting in progress along the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. July 4, where officers found Williams suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Williams was pronounced dead after being transported to Capital Health Regional Medical center a short time later.

    According to the prosecutor's office, the second victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hip, the news release adds.

    Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa L. Hilton is expected to motion to detain Ford pending trial.

    The investigation into the shooting by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force is ongoing.
