The PIAA District One Class 6A and 5A playoffs begin Monday, with Class A-4A starting Tuesday.

Plenty of Bucks County area teams have earned spots and will try to qualify for the PIAA state championships.

Here's what to look for in the District One baseball playoffs:

How will Bucks County area teams fare in District One baseball tourney?

A year ago, four Bucks County area teams advanced to states and two of them won District One championships.

Central Bucks West (Class 6A) and Dock Mennonite (Class A) secured district titles. West was a No. 14 seed in the 24-team tournament and Dock had the top seed in the four-team bracket.

North Penn (third place) and Abington (sixth) also advanced to the state playoffs in 6A. North Penn (No. 2 seed), Abington (4) and Pennsbury (7) were among the eight schools that garnered first-round byes in 2023.

Archbishop Wood also captured the District 12 Class 4A crown last year.

This spring, Quakertown (No. 1) and Neshaminy (2) are the top two 6A seeds, with Central Bucks East (7) also getting a first-round bye by making the top eight. Pennsbury (11) and North Penn (14) are hosting first-round games Monday, with Souderton (17), Pennridge (18), Council Rock South (23) and Council Rock North (24) opening on the road.

Suburban One League Liberty Division champ Quakertown and SOL Colonial victor East have never qualified for states, which were first contested in 1977. Quakertown's league title was its first since 2018, while CB East's most recent had been in 2013.

The top six move on to states in Class 6A, meaning the quarterfinal victors advance, as well as the two consolation-round winners that lose quarterfinals.

Some interesting possible 6A playoff games

Looking ahead, Souderton would visit old Bux-Mont League rival Quakertown if it can win the first-round matchup at No. 16 Avon Grove.

If Pennridge can upend No. 15 Haverford, the Rams would face SOL Patriot champ Neshaminy , who they gave the first of only two SOL regular-season defeats, in the second round.

A win at No. 10 Garnet Valley would move CR South to a rematch with SOL foe CB East .

    What about Holy Ghost Prep?

Seeded second in Class 4A, the Firebirds have to defeat No. 3 Upper Perkiomen on Tuesday and the winner of the other semifinal between Springfield-Montco and top-seeded Pope John Paul II semifinal on Thursday to earn a state berth.

Holy Ghost Prep won 4A districts in 2022 and reached the state title game, where it was edged by Montour 10-9.

What are Bristol's chances in 3A?

The Warriors won their first 13 games this season for the best start in school history, only to lose their last three Bicentennial Athletic League games to quality competition in undefeated Faith Christian, Delco Christian and Dock Mennonite. Bristol is seeded third and hosts No. 6 Allentown Central Catholic on Tuesday in the combined District One/11 3A regional, with the top two of the District 11-heavy field moving on to states.

Three of the four teams in the Class A field are from the Bucks County area. Top-seeded Faith Christian hosts No. 4 Plumstead Christian on Tuesday, with No. 2 Dock Mennonite hosting Delco Christian. The winner advances to states.

In Class 2A, Morrisville hosts Church Farm School on Tuesday for a berth in Thursday's title game with only the champion making states.

Can La Salle win the Catholic League playoffs?

Why not? The top-seeded Explorers downed No. 9 Archbishop Wood 7-0 on Sunday, earning them a semifinal date with defending state 6A champion Father Judge on Wednesday at FDR Park. La Salle last won the PCL tournament in 2021 en route to the 6A state title. It is also on course to play for the District 12 championship against the top seed from the Public League on May 29.

No. 3 Conwell-Egan fell to Judge 4-2 on Saturday but will play in the District 12 Class 4A title game vs. the Public League champ May 29 at FDR Park (3 p.m.) for a state berth.

    How about Palisades?

Led by junior Ted Musselman, the Pirates (11-8) are seeded third in the District 11 Class 2A playoffs and host Shenandoah Valley on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Palisades lost to Schuylkill Haven 4-1 in the 2A semifinals a year ago after beating Williams Valley 7-3 in the quarterfinals.

Only the champion qualifies for states in the Pirates' bracket.
