DOYLESTOWN, PA—The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (IU) in Doylestown has received a $135,000 grant to boost access to gifted education in Bucks County schools. The Bucks County IU was one of 10 organizations in Pennsylvania to receive part of a $3.5 million initiative to boost funding for gifted students through the state’s Pennsylvania Gifted Education Initiative. Detention center escapee caught while trying to blend in with carnival workers, Pa. state police say
One of two teens who broke out of a detention center in Berks County over the weekend was apprehended on Monday.The other is still at large and may be hiding in Bucks County, authorities say.Tyler Lutz, 18, from Reading, and 16-year-old Dustin Lomas from Bristol Township escaped from Abraxas Academy in New Morgan Borough on Saturday night.Police say Lutz was taken into custody after being spotted by a Tullytown Borough police officer.Lutz was at a local carnival and was trying to blend in with carnival employees, state police said.He was taken into custody without incident.Authorities now believe Lomas may also be in the Bucks County area.Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the police.Last September, nine teenagers broke out of the juvenile detention center but were all taken back into custody during a 10-hour search.

Pennsylvania State Police’s Troop M patrolling the Lehigh Valley announced the results of Independence Day holiday period enforcement aimed at combatting unsafe driving. The holiday enforcement period ran from just after midnight Tuesday, July 2 to midnight Sunday, July 7. The Fourth of July enforcement campaign annually targets aggressive driving on state highways. Bethlehem-based Troop M covers Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties.
