An immense concrete bridge beam took up both lanes of Route 61 south in Schuylkill Haven on Thursday morning on its way to Bucks County. Manufactured at Northeast Prestressed Products in Cressona, the 105-foot beam weighing 71 tons was one of four destined for a highway improvement project on Route 1 at the Neshaminy and Penndel interchanges. Evan Fink, Northeast’s sales manager, said the largest of the beams measured 150 feet long and weighed 103 tons.
Second Abraxas escapee captured in Bucks County
Authorities have captured the second of two teens who escaped from the Abraxas Academy youth detention facility in New Morgan. State police announced Thursday that Dustin Lomas, 16, of Bristol Township, Bucks County had been taken into custody Wednesday night by police in Falls Township, Bucks County. Lomas was in a stolen vehicle at the time of his arrest.
