Boothbay sets Aug. 1 deadline for Butler and Country Club road work
Boothbay selectmen want the Butler and Country Club road paving project complete by Aug. 1. Contractor McGee Construction began the project last spring with an expected May 17 completion date. A week of steady rain and an unforeseen ledge problem delayed the project, but selectmen believe even with those delays, the project should have been completed by now. McGee began work earlier this spring on a sewer and water project for an affordable housing project.
No charges filed against officers involved in deadly 2023 standoff in Howland
After an extensive investigation, the Trumbull County Prosecutor's office has released its findings into a Howland standoff that lead to the fatal shooting of its suspect. No charges will be filed against three officers that were involved in the shooting death of Randall Fife, who held three hostages at a home on Highland Avenue SE in Howland on August 22 last year.

Mechanic Falls family may have been dead for weeks, neighbors say
A mother and her two children were found dead this past weekend at their apartment in Mechanic Falls. A statement released by Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said that the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded to a request for assistance from the Mechanic Falls police department around 4 p.m. Saturday, after three bodies were found during a routine wellness check in an apartment at 5 Highland Road.

Man accused of crashing into multiple vehicles while under the influence in Portland
PORTLAND (WGME) – Police say a Maine man was driving while under the influence when he crashed into multiple vehicles, including a Portland police cruiser. Police say 60-year-old William Dominguez of Portland was driving a silver van when an officer saw him crash into a parked car on Cumberland Avenue at Pearl Street then continue on and crash into another parked vehicle around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday.
