July's second residential real estate sale of $1 million or above came from the Northtowns. <\p> Kenneth and Ellen Munroe recently sold 70 DaVinci Court, Amherst, for $1.2 million to Nolan Machernis and Melissa Hoffman of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, according to July 3 filings with the Erie County clerk’s office. <\p>
Manufacturer plans big expansion in Genesee County
A farming equipment manufacturer is planning a large expansion in Genesee County.<\p> Oxbo, which makes agriculture machinery, plans to replace its 3,500-square-foot plant in Byron with a 195,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Bergen, according to documents filed with the Genesee County Planning Board.<\p>
New Era inks multi-year deal with another major league sport
Buffalo-based New Era Cap has landed a big multi-year partnership.<\p> The international sports and lifestyle brand announced a multi-year agreement with the National Hockey League. According to a news release, New Era has been granted the rights to distribute and produce globally apparel and headwear for the NHL and its 32 teams. <\p>

FTC noncompete ban suffers setback
The Federal Trade Commission’s broad noncompete ban suffered a legal setback after a federal judge in Texas ruled against the agency on July 3.<\p> U.S. District Judge Ada E. Brown of the Northern District of Texas, said in a ruling that the agency “lacks substantive rulemaking authority” on the matter and granted a preliminary injunction on the controversial rule that could affect employers in a broad range of industries. <\p>

Judge halts longtime owners' effort to cancel sale of lakefront hotel
The future of a Bemus Point hotel remains in limbo after a judge in late June denied the longtime owners’ efforts to cancel a sale contract signed nearly two years ago.<\p> The decision comes three months after the Johnston family filed a complaint in Chautauqua County Supreme Court for a declaratory judgment voiding a $3.5 million contract signed in July 2022 to sell the Lenhart Hotel to Jill and William Curry II. <\p>

Commission pays $1.55M for East Side office building
The Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission has purchased a three-story 1920s office building at the corner of Broadway and Elm Street on Buffalo's East Side for $1.55 million, according to documents filed with the Erie County clerk's office.<\p> The commission bought 119 Broadway, also known as 195 Elm St., from Bright Elm LLC of East Aurora.<\p>
