    2024-06-16

NEWFANE, N.Y. — Early Friday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a man wanted on multiple extradition warrants from Indiana.

Around 2:30 a.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle on Chestnut Road due to a headlight being out. During the stop, the driver provided a false identity. He was later identified as 40-year-old Richard Baldwin, a resident of Wilson.

Baldwin, who has four warrants out of Indiana for six charges related to methamphetamine and vehicle theft, was charged with false personation, unlicensed operation, and having no/inadequate headlight.

Baldwin’s passenger, 37-year-old Michael Doxey, Jr. from Lockport, was also taken into custody on an active bench warrant from Lockport. He faces charges of petit larceny, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration. Additionally, Doxey has warrants related to burglary, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both men were remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility. Baldwin awaits extradition, while Doxey awaits further proceedings in Lockport and Clarence. A third passenger in the vehicle was given a courtesy transport, and the vehicle was impounded.
