    1 dead after house fire in Buffalo Grove

    BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. — An investigation is underway after a deadly house fire in the northwest suburbs on Monday morning.

    The deadly blaze erupted at a home in the 630 block of Woodhollow Lane, according to a spokesperson for the Village of Buffalo Grove.

    Crews from the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to the scene just after 10:22 a.m. and found a two-story home with an attached garage that was engulfed in heavy flames that appeared to be spreading to the house.

    Officials said crews had also received reports that one person inside the home was unaccounted for.

    Crews began a search inside the home as they worked to control the blaze and during the search, they located the victim who was later pronounced dead on the scene.

    After about 30 minutes, crews were able to get the fire under control but an investigation into the incident by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, in conjunction with the Illinois State Fire Marshal, is ongoing.

    Officials say the identity of the victim is being withheld pending an examination by the Lake County Coroner.
