Bills have immediate chance to face struggles as big favorite

(BetMGM/WGR Sports Radio 550) - No NFL team has been a favorite of, at least, seven points more than the Buffalo Bills the last two seasons. And no team has delivered a worse return for bettors in those games.

The Bills have been the big favorite in 18 regular season games since the start of the 2022-23 season, one more than the Kansas City Chiefs and two more than the San Francisco 49ers. No other team has more than 12 of those games.

Buffalo has a 6-11-1 record against the spread in those games. If you bet $100 each time, you’d be down approximately $550. More than $400 of that loss came from last year alone when they went 2-6, including six losses in their last seven opportunities:

The last two years have been a dramatic flip from the 2021-22 season when they went 6-2-2, with a profit of nearly $400 for $100 bettors. It was one of the best single season returns for any team in those games over the last 20 years.

As of Tuesday’s NFL odds at BetMGM, the Bills are a seven-point favorite in their Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals. If the spread holds or increases, it’ll be their first season opener as a seven-point favorite since covering -7 against the New York Jets in 2017.
