BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The City of North Tonawanda is looking for a local artist to design its new city flag.

The Mayor’s Office is requesting a design that embodies the city’s rich history, vibrant culture, and ongoing revitalization. “Tonawanda” means “Swift Running Water” in the Seneca language, inspiring imagery of the city’s forward-moving spirit.

The flag will be displayed in the Gateway Harbor Park in the heart of downtown North Tonawanda, among various other key locations in the city.

The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. on July 26 and the artist of the winning design will receive a $1,000 prize.
