Las Vegas, NV ( WGR Sports Radio 550) - With the 123rd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres take defenseman Simon-Pier Brunet from the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League.

Another left shot defenseman for the Sabres. Brunet was teammates with played alongside current Sabres prospect Vsevolod Komarov in Drummondville.

The 6-foot-2, 196 pound native of Gatineau, Quebec recorded 14 points in 19 playoff games as the Voltigeurs took home the QMJHL title to advance to the memorial cup.

Elite Prospects says that Brunet motors up and down the ice with a sound skating posture for a player of his 6-foot-2 size. With his skating and reach, he denies space from the opposition, closes on them in transition, and guards the front of the net. Attackers can’t go through him. He walls them off from high-danger areas.

The Sabres next will be selecting 172nd overall in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
