The National Hurricane Center has placed a 40% chance for tropical development over the southwestern Caribbean Sea over the next week.

Conditions are expected to remain favorable for the formation of a low-pressure area or tropical system until the first week of November.

This development is likely linked to the resurgence of the Central American Gyre, which previously contributed to the formation of hurricanes Helene and Milton , as well as Tropical Storm Nadine .

While some forecast models have pointed to the possibility of tropical development since last week, there is considerable uncertainty, and they don’t agree on whether a system will form or its possible path.

Historically, the Caribbean and western Atlantic are prime areas for tropical system formation due to warm waters and weak wind shear.

The next name on the hurricane list is Patty.
