NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - After a drier start to the day a few storms will bubble up into the afternoon with more widespread rain expected into this evening. A disturbance moving from southwest to northeast will trigger storms into the late afternoon through the evening. Expect a few heavy downpours.

Seven People Charged in Narcotics Investigation in Thibodaux
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced seven people have been charged after narcotics agents found drugs at two Thibodaux residences. All face drug-related charges. Narcotics agents recently began investigating illegal narcotics activity on North Hidalgo Lane in Thibodaux after receiving intelligence about residences on the street. Agents identified two residences in the 1800 block that were believed to be involved with drug activity. Through investigation, they learned some of the individuals involved were either on probation or parole.
Tangipahoa Parish Jail inmate dies; investigation underway, sheriff says
AMITE, La. (WVUE) - An investigation is underway after an inmate died Thursday (July 25) morning at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, the sheriff’s office says. Christopher Montrell Woodard, 47, reported not feeling well and was sent to the medical wing around 5:45 a.m. where he became unresponsive, authorities say.
