Open House & Volunteer Appreciation event will be Thursday, Aug. 15 at Burien’s Hospitality House

All are invited to an Open House & Volunteer Appreciation event at Hospitality House on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.

“You’ve been watching our remodel progress over the last 8 months, and it’s finally done!” organizers said. “We invite you to come see the improvements, enjoy food & beverages, and honor our volunteers at our open house.”

About Hospitality House

Hospitality House opened in October 2000 to provide home, health and hope to women experiencing homelessness.

On any given night in America, anywhere from 2.5 to 3.5 million people are homeless according to estimates of the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty. The Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness conducted the 2016 one-night count and discovered that 4,505 people were homeless in King County, which was an increase of 19% over those found without shelter the prior year.

While there are many reasons for homelessness, one encouraging note is that the condition of homelessness is usually temporary. Almost 80% of people who fall homeless are able to find shelters, adequate affordable housing or other permanent residence within 3 months.
