BURKBURNETT ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A Burkburnett man has been charged with evading after police reportedly found him running down the street carrying a small couch.

According to the affidavit, just before 11 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2024, a Burkburnett police officer was on patrol on East 3rd Street when he saw a man, later identified as James Ivory, running down the street with a loveseat.

Ivory told the officer he found the piece of furniture on the curb and was taking it home. A criminal records check confirmed Ivory had a parole violation warrant. Ivory fled but was caught after tripping and falling.

The report noted Ivory was previously convicted for evading arrest. He was jailed and held without bond for the parole violation. His bond for fleeing was set at $7,500.

The report did not say what happened to the loveseat.
