In 1837, The Central Railroad started construction of a railway that would run from Macon to Savannah. The railway was completed in 1843 according to The Central of Georgia Railway website. This railway ran through the southernmost part of Burke County in very close proximity to The Ogeechee River. A train station was established there and it was named Burton Station 9 ½ CCR. This area was also referred to as Midway, as it was located midway between Macon and Savannah on the railway. There were many towns across the state that sprang up along the railroads and Midville was on the cusp of birth. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Midville as a town in 1877.
