Missing woman last seen at her home in Morganton, Burke County officials say
MORGANTON, N.C. — The Burke County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding a missing Morganton woman. Kimberly Woodard was last seen leaving her home at 4056 Sunrise Lane in Morganton on June 29. She got into a white SUV with an unknown driver and was wearing jeans and a white shirt.

MORGANTON, N.C. – The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in finding Kimberly Woodard, who was last seen on June 29, 2024. Woodard is a white 39-year-old woman with blonde hair, blue eyes and is 5’7″ and weighs approximately 160 pounds.

Burke County Man Charged With Vehicle Theft In Catawba County
30-year-old Jeremy Aaron Huffman of Connelly Springs was arrested Monday (July 8) by authorities in Cleveland County on charges from Catawba County. He’s charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Huffman was incarcerated in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. A District Court date is set for July 11.
Burke County Man Charged With Drug, Firearm Offenses
36-year-old Johny Lee of Morganton was arrested Saturday (July 6) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with possession with intent to sell & deliver methamphetamine, possession of meth, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon, second-degree trespassing and two counts of resisting, obstruct, and delay a public officer.

SHELBY — The Burke County Post 21 baseball team, playing in American Legion’s North Carolina Area IV playoffs, was swept from the quarterfinals by Shelby Post 82. Burke County (8-20), the No. 9 seed in the playoffs, fell on three consecutive nights to drop the best-of-five series, losing Wednesday’s Game 1 at top-seeded Shelby 12-1 six innings by mercy rule, Thursday’s Game 2 at home at Morganton’s Shuey Field 7-0, and Friday’s Game 3 on the road 7-1.
