Students in the Kansas City area have racked up thousands of dollars in school lunch debt since universal free lunch ended two years ago. During the pandemic, the federal government issued waivers that allowed all school districts to offer free meals to all students. Congress let the program expire in fall 2022.

Shooting behind KCK fire station leaves one dead, three in custody
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - One man has died as the result of a shooting in a Kansas City, Kansas, park after he was found behind a fire station over the weekend. Med-Dazzling: GBHS students earn recognition for medical innovation
More than 12,000 students aspiring for careers in healthcare from around the world converged in Houston, Texas on June 26-29 for the HOSA Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference. Six Great Bend High School students qualified for the international competition, and five students attended. Seniors Eliana Teri and Cailyn Murphy placed eighth out of 88 teams competing in the medical innovation category. Sophomore Cara Murphy was also part of the team but could not attend the international conference.
