Burnet High UIL Academic competitors excel at Regionals

• UIL Current Issues and Events Regional Champions team Wrigley Mulhollan, Tatum Salinas, Alex Davis, Braven Briant competed in Nacogdoches at Stephen F. Austin University.

The Burnet High School UIL Academic teams traveled to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches last Friday and Saturday for the Region 3-4A Speech and Academic Meet. Burnet High finished 4th in the Team Sweepstakes competition out of 50 schools in Region 3-4A.

Three teams were crowned Regional champions and will now compete at the State UIL Academic meet at the University of Texas on May 14-15.

Social Studies Team Regional champions were: Adriana Briggs, Khris Kassner, Cayden Beatty, Kayci Banton and Arely Castillo Zapata. Arely is the Regional champion and Kayci is the Regional runner-up. Cayden finished 5th, and Khris finished 6th. The competitors are coached by Hunter Hobbs.

The Spelling and Vocabulary Regional champions were: Emily Moreno, Katie Bronaugh, Alaina Clark and Aly Van Zandt. Alaina finished 5th and Aly finished 6th. They are coached by Mike Walzel.

Current Issues and Events Regional champions were: Wrigley Mulhollan, Tatum Salinas, Alex Davis and Braven Briant. Wrigley is the Regional champion and Tatum is the bronze medalist. Alex finished 4th, and Braven finished in 5th place. They are coached by Clint Mulhollan.
