Amazing Grange Day serves as major fundraiser for local chapter
Back in 2018 when Marys River Grange’s historic building needed a new roof, the membership established Amazing Grange Day as a new fundraiser to boost the bottom line. Now in its sixth year — there was no event in 2020 because of the pandemic — Amazing Grange Day has become one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers. It’s coming up Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Marys River Grange Hall.

The Gresham Senior Center is celebrating a bounce-back from broken pipes and water damage last winter with the return of a car show and grand reopening. Local musician’s family asking for help after he passed away on stage
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The family of a local musician is asking for help from the community after he passed out and died on stage while playing at a local venue. Hal Piper was in a Eugene-based band called Bigfoot Lane. He was involved in different music projects in the Pacific Northwest, playing the guitar and other string instruments in a bluegrass Americana style. Piper was born in 1948, and had turned 76 on July 13. Piper was performing at the Twisted River Saloon in Springfield on August 11 when he collapsed on stage and passed away.

On Wednesday at 10:40 a.m. an air quality alert was issued for Harney County. "High concentration of smoke particulates from wildfire smoke," can be expected according to the weather service. "Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on weather.
