Industry groups challenge BLM’s new public lands conservation rule
Several industry groups are challenging a new rule from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that puts conservation on equal footing with other uses on agency-managed lands. Traditionally, companies have sought leases for various uses on BLM’s 245 million acres, including mining, logging, grazing, oil and gas drilling and recreation. Now, under the new Public Lands Rule which went into effect in June, parties can also apply for leases to do “restoration” or “mitigation” work.

(UPDATE) Police arrest suspect following bank robbery
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne Police Department has apprehended a suspect in a reported bank robbery and for assaulting an officer Thursday afternoon. At approximately 3 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery at Jonah Bank of Wyoming located at 205 Storey Blvd. According to statements, an adult male suspect, later identified as Eric Smith, 34, of Cheyenne, entered the bank, threatened employees and demanded cash. He took an undisclosed amount of cash from the location and then fled on foot.

Young at Heart Community Campfire set for Friday
The Young at Heart Community Center will host a Community Campfire this Friday, July 26. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at 2400 Regan Ave. in Rock Springs. Attendees will receive a free s’more kit, and children must be accompanied by an adult. The event promises a delightful evening for friends and family to enjoy together.
