Cheer Completes Annual NCA Camp
The Davenport University cheer team excelled at the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) Camp, held from August 4-6 in Port Huron, Michigan. The squad achieved remarkable success, winning two first places and accumulating 14 All-American honors. Notably, they secured the top positions in both the Top Gun STUNT and Top Gun Partner STUNT competitions, marking a historic achievement for the program. These victories included a Gold Paid Bid for the All-Girl Team and a Silver Paid Bid for the Coed Team, both aiming for the NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Thumb Narcotics Unit arrests two in Imlay City for selling meth, cocaine, fentanyl
Two men were arrested last Thursday in Imlay City by the Thumb Narcotics Unit for selling methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl throughout the Thumb. The arrest occurred Thursday, August 8, with agents arresting 31-year-old Steven Jackson of St. Clair Shores and 28-year-old Mantwan Gladney of Detroit, after an investigation into narcotic sales in the Thumb area. Both were taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Lapeer County Jail, being arraigned on felony drug charges the next day in Lapeer County’s 71A District Court.
