One dead in double shooting at Mondawmin Metro Station
BALTIMORE - One person died and another was injured in a shooting Sunday evening at the Mondawmin Metro Station in West Baltimore.Two people were found at the metro station at the 2300 block of Liberty Heights Avenue with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital where one died.According to the Maryland Transit Administration, bus service was temporarily canceled because of the police investigation. Service has since resumed for operation.

Kentlands Bar Crawl Raises More Than $1700 For Charity
The Kentlands Bar Crawl, an event that started over 20 years ago and has grown to include more than 150 people this year, has raised $1720 for Feed the Fridge. Kristin Johnston, one of the newer organizers of the event who joined original organizers Sue Kravitz and Debbie Freedman last year, tells us that this year’s event raise $860 that was matched by Feed the Fridge founder Mark and Amy Bucher for a total of $1720 raised.

Marco’s Pizza closes location in southern Loudoun
The Marco’s Pizza restaurant in the South Riding/Chantilly area of southern Loudoun has closed its doors for good. The announcement was made today via social media. “It is with a heavy heart I inform you that Marco’s Pizza in South Riding has permanently closed for business as of yesterday,” co-owner Chris Browne wrote. “It has been a pleasure serving the community over the last seven years. Unfortunately, we were just unable to keep up with rising costs and have reached a point where staying in business has become unsustainable.”
International Soccer Star Visits Local Students
Students at MCPS’ Rolling Terrace Elementary School in Takoma Park got the chance to spend a summer afternoon with professional soccer star Luis Palma. Palma is a Honduran footballer who plays as a winger on the Scottish Premiership club Celtic and the Honduras national team. He has also played professionally in leagues in Honduras, the United Stated, and Greece. Palma became the second Honduran player to ever score in the Champions League when he scored for Celtic against Atletico Madrid in 2023.

A car crashed into a northeast Baltimore home, trapping people inside. The family who lives in the Knell Avenue home said there were four people inside Saturday night when the car crashed into the side of the house.
