Animal surrenders, shelter capacity push NHS to oppose property tax reform bill
OMAHA, Neb. — Nebraska senators heard testimony from different businesses Tuesday on the governor's proposal to reform property taxes and cut spending. Three hearings started at 9:30 a.m. on Legislative Bills 1, 2, and 3. LB 1 is Gov. Jim Pillen's property tax plan, introduced by Sen. The plan would cost you more money when you take your pet to the vet or a groomer.
Three things from Teddy Prochazka
Something Teddy Prochazka isn't taking lightly as he heads into another fall camp — his fourth since joining the team as part of the 2021 class — is the fact he's actually healthy. Prochazka went into the 2022 spring and fall camp rehabbing and did the same for 2023. Not so in 2024.

A cold front brings severe storms later today. But look what’s coming next week.
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Our morning is starting off warm this morning with areas of thicker fog over Central to Northeast Nebraska. Temperatures will be a little cooler today, but still quite toasty. Highs will range from the mid 80s north to the upper 90s south/southeast. But dew points will be high over eastern and southern areas, so heat index values of 100° to 110° will still be possible. As a cold front push east/southeast through the area, cooler and drier air will be moving in from the northwest. So the air won’t be quite so uncomfortable the farther northwest you go. Meanwhile, some weaker showers and thunderstorms are pushing from Southwest Nebraska to Central Nebraska this morning along the cold front. As the morning turns to afternoon, thunderstorms will continue to develop and become stronger along the cold front. Severe thunderstorms will be possible by the mid to late afternoon and continue eastward into the evening. Chance are greatest along and east of Highway 183. The biggest threats will be damaging wind gusts, possibly over 70 mph and large hail, possibly larger than golf balls. By around or shortly after midnight, most of the storms should be east and out of the area. By tomorrow morning, skies will be clear and temperatures will be more comfortable in the upper 50s to upper 60s.
