McDonough is preparing to welcome Ruby's Prime, a new upscale, city-style restaurant, owner Richard Penny told Business Debut. The establishment is slated to open at 30 Macon St, McDonough, GA 30253 within the next 2-3 months.

Ruby's Prime will accommodate approximately 95 diners, featuring a mix of booths and tables. A highlight of the space is a private dining room located upstairs, offering an overlooking view of the main dining area below. Shying away from calling Ruby's Prime fine dining, Penny intends for the concept to be considered upscale, a less stuffy label, he said.

During the day, it will maintain a more casual atmosphere. Around 3 pm, Ruby's Prime will close briefly, reopening at 5:30 pm with a more formal ambiance, complete with white tablecloths, pre-set wine glasses, silverware and tableware.

Penny emphasizes sourcing meat primarily from Georgia suppliers, including plans to feature Wagyu beef from a local herd. The menu will showcase various cuts of steak, large lobster tails and dry-aged pork chops. Patrons can also expect a full bar and an extensive wine list.

Penny commented that Ruby's will be "a city-style upscale restaurant, but we’ll be out here in the suburbs, so that they don’t have to make a trip into the city.”

In a separate move, Penny is relocating his popular breakfast and lunch concept, Two Eggs. The restaurant will move from 557 Jonesboro Rd, McDonough, GA 30253 to a new, larger space in a Publix-anchored shopping center at 2434 Jonesboro Rd, Hampton, GA 30228. The new location will offer an additional 2,000 square feet and feature outdoor dining options.
