Taylor Swift fans believe the singer may be subtly backing Kamala Harris for president.
    • Some Taylor Swift fans believe she's subtly endorsing Kamala Harris in her latest Instagram post.
    • Swift previously endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 election.
    • Swift's political influence is significant.

Swifties won't shake off a popular fan theory that the singer could be subtly backing Kamala Harris.

Taylor Swift previously endorsed President Joe Biden and Harris in the 2020 election but has remained quiet about who she's voting for this time around.

Some fans believe she left a clue in her latest Instagram post , which included photos from the Eras Tour's three stops in Warsaw, Poland.

The seventh photo in the post shows Swift on stage. In the background, a silhouette of a backup dancer with their hand raised in the air can be seen.

As The New York Times reported, Swifties online are commenting on the dancer's resemblance to Harris.

"Taylor Swift just low key endorsed Kamala Harris and MAGA is losing their minds," Call to Activism , an anti-Trump account, posted on X.

"Did Taylor Swift just soft launch her endorsement of Kamala Harris?!?!" another X user wrote .

This comes after Swift's fans celebrated Harris' running mate, Tim Walz, for being a self-proclaimed Swift fan .

It's worth noting, however, that Swift hasn't officially endorsed any candidate, and it's entirely possible there was no ulterior motive for her Instagram post.

Fans may be poised to assume where Swift's support lies because of her previous endorsement of Harris in 2020.

"I spoke to @vmagazine about why I'll be voting for Joe Biden for president. So apt that it's come out on the night of the VP debate. Gonna be watching and supporting @KamalaHarris by yelling at the tv a lot. And I also have custom cookies," Swift wrote in October 2020, alongside a photo of her holding cookies with "Biden Harris 2020" written in icing.

The fan theory about Swift's 2024 vote highlights the singer's influence on politics.

She first spoke about politics after Obama took office in 2009, telling Rolling Stone that she was "so glad" it was her first election.

But the article said the then-18-year-old was hesitant to answer political questions in case she offended her fan base.

"I don't talk about politics because it might influence other people," Swift said in a separate interview with Time in 2012. "And I don't think that I know enough yet in life to be telling people who to vote for."

But six years later, Swift appeared to have changed her stance completely when she endorsed former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen over the Republican Marsha Blackburn in the US Senate election for Tennessee.

Swift's political impact is indisputable . In September 2023, more than 35,000 people registered to vote after Swift encouraged her Instagram followers to do so.

In February 2024, US voters told The Guardian they cared about Swift's political leanings.

"I think she could, potentially, absolutely change my mind politically, because she is a strong woman who is a role model to my 24-year-old daughter," Michael Dee, a 67-year-old investment banker from Texas, told the outlet.

But Geoff Lusk, a pilates instructor from Denver, said he believed Swift would be "far more effective if she didn't endorse a candidate but instead told her fans to study the issues and make up their own minds."

Representatives for Taylor Swift didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
