Some engineering students would love to work for Google, a new global ranking shows.
    • Some engineering students would love to work for Google if they got the chance.
    • Universum asked college students what employers they most want to work for.
    • Mercedes-Benz Group moved up from last year to complete the top 3 based on engineering students.

Google ranked as the No. 1 most desirable employer for engineering students around the world in a new ranking from Universum.

The US unemployment rate for young college grads is climbing, and job opportunities are cooling . Many workers are holding tight onto their positions .

Still, soon-to-be graduates or students preparing for the future are excited to hopefully work for particular companies. Engineering students worldwide find Google, Microsoft, and Mercedes-Benz Group as attractive employers.

Universum, an employer branding specialist, creates annual World's Most Attractive Employers rankings using what thousands of students of varying college grade levels and countries said their up to top five ideal employers were.

China, Italy, India, and the US were four of the nine countries that student participants were from; the survey collection varied among countries but took place between September 2023 and May 2024.

"Airbus made a remarkable jump of 10 spots, bolstered by its appeal amidst the struggles of competitor Boeing," a Universum press release said about the ranking among engineering students. "However, there was a notable decline in interest in manufacturing roles."

Below are the top 15 companies that engineering students from different countries said they really want to work for.
