DeLanie Ryan Brings Home a Fourth Place in World Archery Competition By Cheryl Hughes
The NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) held its World Competition in Daytona Beach, Florida, on June 5th through June 9th. DeLanie Ryan, daughter of Mikey and Amber Ryan, of Butler County, competed in the elementary girls division. Thirty-one states were represented in the tournament for 4th grade through 12th grade students. DeLanie, who competed as a 5th grader, placed 4th out of 356 elementary girls in the Bullseye competition and took 8th place in the 3D division. She finished with a score of 284 (out of 300) and managed to get two perfect bullseyes in the process. Her parents, who said they were a lot more nervous than their daughter was, were present to help her celebrate. DeLanie, who has laser focus during competition, said the most nerve-wracking part of the whole event for her was when she had to go up on stage to receive her awards.
Fatal overdose in Morgantown comes only 8 days after deadly overdose in Leitchfield
Police in Butler County are investigating an apparent fatal overdose. The incident occurred Monday at Green River Lodge at 461 South Tyler Street in Morgantown. The Beech Tree News reports that someone was found deceased at the lodge from a possible drug overdose, and “a second individual is in custody as a person-of-interest in the death.”
Backpack fundraiser being hosted at Logansport this weekend
BUTLER COUNTY, Ky. – A draft tournament will be held at the Logansport Ballpark in Morgantown, Kentucky to raise money for children who experience hunger on the weekends. On June 22, the event begins at 5 p.m. for participants over 16 years old. There is a two home-run limit and at least four teams wanted for the event.
