Dave McCormick , a Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate, was sitting in the front row and told Politico that he believes someone behind him was hit by gunfire.

“All the sudden shots started to crack, someone behind me appears to have been shot,” McCormick said. “There’s lots of blood, and then the Secret Service were all over President Trump.”

As for Trump, the campaign said he is “fine” and being checked out and the Secret Service reported that Trump is safe.

The tense scene took place at a Pennsylvania rally Saturday (July 13) as agents escorted Donald Trump offstage after sounds described as gunshots rang out. Trump, 78, was reportedly bleeding from his ear and pumping his fist as the Secret Service escorted him to safety.

Trump took the stage around 6p EST and was still early in his speech to the crowd when the incident occurred.

Heavily armed security took the stage as he was led off.

President Joe Biden , currently in Delaware, has been updated on the incident, according to a senior White House official.
