Former President Donald Trump called Helen Comperatore on Tuesday to offer his condolences over the death of her husband, Corey.

Corey Comperatore was killed during the assassination attempt at Trump’s political rally on Saturday. He was 50 years old and is survived by his wife and two daughters. He was a former fire chief and volunteer fireman in Butler County, Pennsylvania. He was killed while shielding his family from the gunfire that was intended to assassinate Trump.

She posted about Trump’s phone call on her Facebook account, according to the New York Post .

“He was very kind and said he would continue to call me in the days and weeks ahead,” she said.

“I told him the same thing I told everyone else. He left this world a hero and God welcomed him in. He did not die in vain that day,” she said .

On Monday, it was reported that President Joe Biden attempted to contact her and offer his condolences. She declined to speak to him, however, saying that she is a Trump supporter, as was her husband.

“I didn’t talk to Biden,” Comperatore said . “I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican, and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”

She claimed she did not have any ill will toward Biden but that she preferred not to talk to him and was apolitical.
