PANAMA CITY — For officials of the Bay County Republican Party of Florida, it's clear Democrats know they "can't win" the 2024 Presidential Election.

Hours after a shooting at a Pennsylvania rally held by former President Donald Trump on Saturday, members of the group took to Facebook. The incident left Trump injured, one attendee dead and at least two others in serious condition.

"Let's make no mistake, the hysterics from the illegitimate Biden Administration, the deep state and their compliant media have deliberately created (an) atmosphere that is hoping will result in violent action," a Saturday evening post on the group's page read. " They know they can't win at the ballot box. Today, these sinister forces got what they wanted. Someone shot at President Trump in Pennsylvania.

"He stood bloodied and pumped his fist into the crowd. What a legend. This isn't left vs. evil. This is good vs. evil. American greatness vs. American destruction. Life vs. death. We pray for Donald Trump. We pray for his family. We pray for our country."

As of about 9 p.m. on Saturday, the post had almost 50 reactions, about 20 shares and four comments.

The shooting also sparked Facebook posts from the Bay County Democratic Party. One showed a picture of Trump moments after the incident with the caption "ballots not bullets," and the other shared a social media post from President Joe Biden that said he was "grateful to hear" Trump is "safe and doing well."

In the shared post, Biden also wrote "there's no place for this kind of violence in America."

According to a report from USA Today, "Trump was rushed off stage with blood dripping on his face" after someone attempted to shoot him at a Saturday rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

As of that evening, the shooting was being investigated as an assassination attempt, and officials had confirmed the suspected shooter, who fired multiple shots toward the stage as Trump spoke, is dead.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
