A device belonging to Thomas Matthew Crooks , the man who fired at Donald Trump during a Pennsylvania rally, was discovered on the rooftop where he took his position, together with a transmitter , sparking further inquiry as officers delve into the case.

Ex-President Donald Trump took a bullet to the right ear after Crooks, aged 20, unleashed a barrage of bullets at the crowd in Butler on Saturday night.

In addition to three other people who got shot, Corey Comperatore, 50, succumbed to his injuries, while David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, have been left grievously wounded.

Crooks faced a fatal response from Secret Service agents who shot him dead. The presence of the transmitter has led to speculations about whether Crooks was in touch with an accomplice, and if there was more to the agenda than just the interruption of the rally.

Channel 11's Nicole Ford reports that over an hour before executing the attack at precisely 6.11pm, enforcement spotted Crooks looking dodgy around the premises from where he targeted the former President, reports the Express US .

The discovery of the transmitter is particularly troubling, suggesting that had Crooks not been killed, his spree of violence might have continued, potentially with the assistance of a co-conspirator.

Notably, hours preceding the gunfire, Crooks had requested time off work, citing that he had "something to do".

Amidst conflicting statements and previous assertions, Secret Service boss Kimberly Cheatle found herself under intense scrutiny, particularly concerning the claim that a sniper unit from Beaver County had been set up in the very building from which the shots were fired at Trump.

Official reports indicate that Crooks managed to infiltrate the security area of the rally three hours prior to the attack.

Eyewitnesses relayed to Channel 11 that the shooter was positioned on the roof with his firearm for less than seven minutes before being approached by a Butler Township police officer.

In the residence of his parents, where Crooks resided, authorities discovered a bulletproof vest and a third remote-controlled explosive device.
