PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Allegheny General Hospital gave an update Wednesday on the two victims being treated there from the shooting at a Trump rally in Butler County Saturday.

Hospital officials said that James Copenhaver and David Dutch, both of who sustained injuries, have been upgraded from critical to serious condition as of 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The two men were hit by gunfire as a shooter fired several rounds at the crowd just as the rally began in Butler, Pa.

Trump was hit by a bullet, injuring his upper ear. Witnesses have said had Trump not turned his head, the injury would have been critical if not deadly.

Corey Comperatore, who was at the rally with his family, was killed when he was hit by gunfire, suffering a fatal wound to his head.

The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crook, was shot and killed by Secret Service agents returning fire, officials said.

The shooting is being investigated as an assassination attempt.
