NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — While Congress is in recess this week, next week, the woman in charge of the Secret Service is expected to testify before the House to explain how a gunman was able to take a shot at Donald Trump in Pennsylvania.

The shooting happened during a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, where a gunman killed one man and wounded two other people.

In a speech Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson promised to get answers from director Kimberly Cheatle.

North Dakota congressman Kelly Armstrong, meanwhile, says he’s getting a bipartisan briefing about the incident on Wednesday afternoon.

“You don’t get to go with, ‘we’re conducting an investigation, there’s an ongoing investigation answer’,” he said. “That answer’s not going to be acceptable to anybody in Congress right now. We’re not waiting until they do their internal investigation to figure out what happened.”

Armstrong says the hearing next week will happen under the House Homeland Security Committee. So far, director Cheatle has said she’s not resigning.
