Secret Service Didn't Attend Briefing For Local Sniper Teams At Trump Rally

Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin released a preliminary report into the security failures during Donald Trump's campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The 13-page report details five preliminary findings about what went wrong on July 13, when a lone gunman climbed onto the roof of a one-story building and fired several shots toward Trump, striking him in the ear.

The shooter also killed one attendee and critically injured two others.

The first finding in the report was that the Secret Service did not attend a security briefing provided to local SWAT and sniper teams on the morning of the rally. The report also noted that the Secret Service initially wasn't going to send snipers to the rally.

Another issue raised in the report was a lack of communication between local law enforcement and the Secret Service. Despite the lack of communication, local law enforcement notified officials about the shooter and received confirmation that the Secret Service was aware of the report.

The report also includes a detailed timeline of the events leading up to the assassination attempt.

"Senator Johnson's office will continue to pursue the truth and, in doing so, encourages anyone with relevant information on the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt or the alleged shooter to come forward to his office and email his whistleblower account: Whistleblower_PSIJohnson@hsgac.senate.gov," Johnson's office said in a press release .
