On Friday (July 26), Donald Trump 's doctor released an update on his recovery from getting shot during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. In a letter shared on X , Dr. Ronny Johnson wrote: "I want to reassure the American people and the rest of the world, that President Trump is doing extremely well. He is rapidly recovering from the gunshot wound to his right ear."

Dr. Johnson also pushed back against the suggestion by FBI Director Christopher Wray that Trump was not struck by a bullet . Wray testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee and told lawmakers: "There’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear."

Johnson called on Congress to correct the record to indicate that Trump was struck by a bullet.

“During the Congressional Hearing two days ago, FBI Director Christopher Wray suggested that it could be a bullet, shrapnel, or glass. There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet. Congress should correct the record as confirmed by both the hospital and myself, Director Wray is wrong and inappropriate to suggest anything else."

Later in the day, Trump appeared without a bandage on his ear for the first time since he was shot. Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida and was not wearing a bandage over his ear, which was grazed by a bullet in the assassination attempt.
