KOTA Cares: Artemis House works to support victims of domestic violence
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Artemis House has gone by several names over the years but they’ve had the same goal in mind: helping survivors of domestic violence. “Artemis House first began in 1979 as the Women in Crisis Coalition and it was formed by a group of concerned citizens in the northern hills to create a nonprofit organization to help women in crisis situations with domestic violence. Over the years it’s transitioned into the Victims of Violence Intervention Program where we serve all victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and part of that is through our Artemis House shelter,” Executive Director of Artemis House Renae Servaty said.
